PARIAH PETE

BIO

Pariah Pete, aka “Pariah Like Mariah with a P” is an indie hip-hop artist from Phoenix redefining the sound of the Southwest with what he calls “desert jazz rap.” Blending rap, jazz, neo-soul, and pop into his own genre-bending fusion. Pete is known for his captivating live band performances, magnetic on- and off-stage charisma, and heartfelt, introspective lyrics that stick. Backed by his band, The Mercuries, he transforms vulnerability into groove, pairing sharp lyricism with warm, melodic instrumentation that moves crowds as much as it moves hearts.

Raised by a single Polish immigrant mother, Pete began writing music at just nine years old. One of his earliest memories is of his older sister playing 50 Cent’s “In Da Club”, a stark contrast to the jazz often played by his Mom, a duality that would later shape his own signature sound. Drawing inspiration from artists like Kendrick Lamar, MF DOOM, Erykah Badu, and Gil Scott-Heron, Pete channels both classic soul and contemporary rap into music that feels timeless yet distinctly his own.

His genre cross-pollination is reflected in an impressive show résumé. Pete has opened for artists including Doja Cat, EARTHGANG, Brainstory, Bardo (of Chicano Batman), Phony Ppl, Felly, John Roseboro, and Breakup Shoes. He’s performed at multi-genre festivals such as M3F, Viva PHX, and ZonaFest, sharing lineups with acts like LCD Soundsystem, BADBADNOTGOOD, Beach House, Freddie Gibbs, Mavi, Inner Wave, and Crumb. He also headlined the Arizona Hip-Hop Festival two consecutive years before turning 21.

Momentum has continued to surge, with over 500,000 Spotify streams, 10 sold-out headlining shows, and performances expanding to Los Angeles, New York City, Austin, Kansas City, and throughout the Southwest. His growing acclaim has led to a profile piece in the Phoenix New Times, multiple mentions in The Arizona Republic, and a “Best Hip Hop/R&B Act” honor from Phoenix Magazine. He was handpicked by Pigeons & Planes to perform alongside EARTHGANG at The Van Buren, has shared stages with Katastro at the Marquee Theatre, and even received an endorsement from Buffalo Exchange for his band-produced summer anthem “Sunkissed.” His music has also been featured on 101.5FM, 101.1FM, 98.3FM, and 93.3FM, and he was recently invited to the YouTube Music HQ in New York City to showcase songs from his upcoming project.

On the cusp of a new album release this summer, Pete’s artistic vision feels sharper and more intentional than ever. His latest self-directed visuals earned a Best Music Video nomination at the Phoenix Film Festival, signaling his evolution not only as a musician but as a creative director with a distinct vision. With each release, performance, and community-driven moment — whether delivering tickets across Phoenix himself or commanding a festival stage — Pariah Pete continues to build something bigger than music: a movement rooted in connection.
